West Craven Area Committee meeting 3/02/2025 update

Kelbrook and Sough Parish Council attended West Craven Area Committee (WCAC) last night, there were two discussions regarding our Parish. The first being a diversion of a Public Footpath at Craven Game Farm in Kelbrook. The attached photograph shows the path. It was agreed by the committee that the diversion be granted.

Secondly Earby Memorial Park/Sough Park funding was discussed. We have outlined the position previously and this is an update of the current situation.

Approximately 8 years ago Pendle asked all Parish and Town Council’s to take responsibility for the upkeep of the parks in their areas. To date Councillor Whipp confirmed that all parks are funded by Parish and Town Councils.

As stated previously Earby Town Council have withdrawn their funding from the park.  For those who don’t know,  the park from the beck towards the A56 is within the Kelbrook and Sough boundary.  Everything behind the beck, including the Park, Tennis Courts, Skate Park and Football Field is within the Earby boundary. 

Kelbrook and Sough Parish Council have ringfenced £4707 to contribute to the upkeep of the front section of the park excluding the bowling green (which is maintained by the bowling club). This money, if it were agreed would fund the following
